About Kenton Baptist Church
The Local Church is the community of faith—made up of believers in Jesus of Nazareth,
the Son of God and promised Messiah. As believers we are called to be conformed
to the image of Jesus. Our calling is one of humble, sacrificial service in loving
our neighbors as ourselves. In so living, we love God with all of our hearts and
seek to promote the name of our Lord Jesus by acting as “salt and light” in a dark
world to the glory of God the Father.
Kenton Baptist Church is a small but growing Southern Baptist church located on
Decoursey Pike in the town of Kenton (see directions.)
We have a vision of fulfilling the Great Commission by spreading the “Good News”
of Jesus Christ to our surrounding communities—especially to those who do not have
a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Our worship service is designed to exalt God through prayer, praising God with hymns,
and preaching His Word. We are a family and community-oriented church with a passion
to impact our neighborhood through the joy that only comes in Jesus Christ.

A Brief History of Kenton Baptist
Kenton Baptist Church was organized on November 7, 1937 with nine charter members
and four candidates for baptism. By September 1939 the membership had grown to fifty-seven
and the church applied for admittance to the North Bend Association of Baptists
(now called Northern Kentucky Baptist Association.)
Weekly services, held in the
Kenton Station Road building, began in 1945 after eight years of only bi-weekly
worship.
Ground-breaking for the basement of the current facility was held on April 11, 1965.
In November of that year Sunday School was held for the last time at the old building,
after which the church members marched up Highway 177 to the new church for the
first worship service. The sanctuary was added in 1970.
From the beginning, Kenton Baptist has been a mission-minded church. In May of 1939,
five dollars was sent to the Cooperative Program.
Although a seemingly small amount,
it was a great sacrifice of love at the time. Today, the church continues to support
the
Cooperative Program, Northern Kentucky Baptist
Association, Oneida Bible Institute,
and various other needs both far away and local.
God has truly blessed Kenton Baptist and we see His blessings on us continually.
Our hope is that God would be glorified through changed lives in Jesus Christ.
